OMG! I’m ecstatic to be one of 40 National Winners of the Aspirations in Computing Award from the National Center for Women & Information Technology (NCWIT) out of 3600 applications!
NCWIT has provided me with so many opportunities that I am thankful for beyond words. After being a National Runner Up and Affiliate Winner of the Award in 2017, I had the chance to become part of a NCWIT Facebook group with amazingly talented women who are doing incredible things in STEM. They have given me so much advice to follow throughout the past year and have really been motivating me to strive with ThinkSTEAM, my research, and all of my STEM initiatives. It was this group of women who introduced me to and encouraged me to apply to Apple’s WWDC, an experience that is one for the books.
2017 has been such a successful year for me! I was a 2017 SHE++ #include Fellow, a 2017 HERlead Fellow, a WWDC17 Scholar, an award winner at MetroHacks II, and a Technovation Global Semifinalist with the app SafetyPin that I created with four other #include fellows from across the country. ThinkSTEAM also thrived during 2017, holding so many workshops with several companies and organizations and spreading its reach to girls from various states. And winning the Aspirations in Computing Award is the cherry on top. As a winner, I get to travel on an all expense paid trip to Charlotte, NC to attend the NCWIT National Event at Bank of America next year. Can’t wait to meet all the other winners at the National Award Event next year!!!

Nearly all of the things you articulate is astonishingly accurate and it makes me wonder the reason why I had not looked at this with this light previously. This particular piece really did switch the light on for me as far as this specific subject matter goes. But at this time there is actually one position I am not too comfy with and whilst I attempt to reconcile that with the core idea of your position, let me observe just what the rest of the readers have to say.Nicely done.
I’m really impressed together with your writing skills as smartly as with the format for your blog. Is that this a paid topic or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the nice high quality writing, it is rare to see a great weblog like this one these days..
It’s a pity you don’t have a donate button! I’d without a doubt donate to this brilliant blog! I guess for now i’ll settle for book-marking and adding your RSS feed to my Google account. I look forward to new updates and will talk about this blog with my Facebook group. Chat soon!
